There are so many things that I found valuable in this course that I don’t even know where to start. One of the things I found very valuable in the ethics portion. Treating your customers and the competition respectfully was one of the most important parts that I valued in this course. Although business is business having a classy character does way more than bring up sales, it brings in respect from everyone. Another part that I found valuable was the online marketing segment of this course. The do’s and dont’s and how to approach a certain type of demographics in the best way gave me great insight of how online marketing works. This course has been a blast and I learned so much!

Blog Post 13 – Whistler

After looking at Whistler‘s webpage and reading some of their news releases, I saw the difference of this page compared to traditional news releases. Whistlers Tourism site shows different images and a nicely made video that pleases the eye. Traditional news releases are pretty much a press release that might add an image or two.

If I was a journalist, I would find the the media room extremely useful. This is because there is so much information to obtain just by the media releases alone! Whistler is very active on their site and the coverage of media, print etc. is so informational! From their Black Mountain opening to the Tough Mudder challenge, for outdoor or just activities, this media room is top notch. (just added to my bookmarks).

 

Blog Post 12- Brand buyers persona

The brand’s buyer persona is a strategy of an expressive importance that involves the everyday life of a buyer to potentially become an idea customer. The target should be to simply break the demographic and socioeconomic specifics of what our buyers are attracted to.

One of my target examples would be women. For years now, beauty is the essential target to a women and this is a fact. If I was a makeup company I would channel the information of beauty, ageless, perfect skin etc. This channel would automatically catch a female’s attention whether it’s cognitive or non-uncognitive due to the message that represents which is beauty.

Another brand buyer personas I would target is “Mothers”. With mothers, they will do anything for their child, not matter what cost. The channels I would use would be “Healthy baby” or “How your child will be safe”. A mothers love is infinite and for that, a buyer persona profile can be made.

Week 12 Blog – Podcast

The podcast that I chose that interests me is a podcast from Yahoo called “Yahoo Fantasy Freakshow Podcast“.  This podcast is uploaded on every Tuesday night at 6oclock eastern time.

I would like to first explain what this podcast is about. This podcast gives specific detailed information about everything thats Fantasy Football. This explains who to start, who the experts like/dislike, matchups, etc. This is an ideal way to get information for a specific player or a team.

This podcast is way better than watching ESPN or even reading the news because its a detailed debate/convseration about everything thats going on in the NFL. The specificity is the reason why I listen every week. They include each player that sparks up an interest with its owners. Most shows like SportsCenter only talks about the whats buzzing in NFL news or the big matchup, but they dont get in depth with the players or the smaller matchups.

This episode “Week 9 Fantasy Freakshow Podcast”  is the upcoming information for week 10. Who to start, who to sit, who is a great matchup. Its all here. I listen to this every week to make sure my fantasy football team wins.

The first photo below is is from the brand Under Armour (Facebook)

The message that Under Armour is sending in my opinion, is passion. This kid waking up at the crack of dawn, stringing up his laces with his soccer cleats shows the message of perseverance and a passion. This shows that when you wake up, first thing is to do is to dream which this pictures is showing. The reaction from the audience on the Facebook page, is a welcoming affection of supporting Under Armour products. The audience engages and mostly writes positive messages alongside of the post of this picture.

The second photo I chose was from the brand RedBull (Facebook)

The message that Red bull is sending is to “live for the moment”. Right now the “EDC” (Electronic Dance Carnival) culture is raving up cities. This shows that with Red bull picture, to live for the moment, energize, and just live!  A huge following which tons of music, and energy is flowing, it is a perfect situation and brand imaging for Red bull to be apart of. The reaction from the audience is strictly related to the EDC movement. Most people are saying how Red Bull has been around the EDC scene and also hosting alot of these EDC events. “Good Vibes and Redbull” seemed to be pretty popular on the reply posts.

The third and last photo I chose was from the one and only Coca Cola (Facebook)

The message that Coca Cola is sending is to pretty much “Relax and enjoy a Coke”. They use the little Coke bottle top to portray an umbrella which was very creative. I like how its two people just totally relaxed under a shade and metaphorically showing that Coca Cola literally “Keeps you cool”. Very creative. The reaction from the audience seemed to be just how the followers enjoys Coke. Not alot of topics about the beach but just the monster following of how Coke is so good and relevant in their lives. Awesome idea, and better picture.

The video that I chose conveying a message without a direct selling approach was the Verizon “A better network as explained by backup quarterback Luke McCown.” (Watch it here)

First, I would like to explain the background of this commercial. I would like to explain this because if you don’t watch football you will not get the content behind the message in this ad. Luke McCown is the backup quarterback for Drew Brees. Drew Brees has been a star Quarterback with the New Orleans Saints since 2004. Drew Brees has broken records, went to multiple pro bowls, and well on his way to the hall of fame.

Now, Luke McCown implements about Verizons “backup generators” but doesn’t directly throw out a sales pitch. Since McCown has been a backup quarterback for so long, the commercial uses a witty approach. McCown states in the commercial “I wonder why they save those backups? And not just put them in the regular rotation” stating in a metaphorical way as to using McCown instead of Drew Brees time to time. Then the final punchline “I bet if they just had the chance, some of those backups would really shine” once again talking about himself being a backup quarterback and shining when he gets the chance.

This commercial is just gold, the video is appealing because first, it grabs the NFL fans attention because it’s not a “star player” that is on the commercial. Second, the dry humor and the witty tactic made this commercial so funny. Luke McCown just looks so lonely by himself which is part of the humor.

This video got 151k views and the general sentiment from the comment section was very humorous. What was crazy was that after this commercial aired, Drew Brees actually got injured not too shortly after this commercial aired. A lot of comments referred to Luke “finally being able to shine” which I thought was very funny. The comments and statements do agree upon my opinion of the humorous approach of this commercial. I wouldn’t agree to let Luke McCown start as the Quarterback, but either would anyone else after his horrendous performance after Drew Brees got hurt. Overall, this commercial did a great job with their humorous approach and therefore, this ad was very appealing.

Blog Post 8: Content Rich Website

The website I chose to be considered a content-rich website is Supplement Superstore. The reason I chose this site is because it’s simple yet informational. This site delivers on rich content of the supplements that they distribute. This is awesome to beginners who want to start weight training or even to just become healthier. Supplement superstore is based in Missouri and a couple stores are in Illinois. This site delivers all the locations, information, and even news and events. What I really like about this site is the manager spotlight and manager picks. This brings new information about new supplements that are not popular or not well known about. These managers are actual managers from each store, so I think those are better than ads just to “buy our stuff”. This website to me is King of all supplement websites. I say this because there are bigger and more content supplements sites out there, but it just looks too overwhelming to purchase anything. I rather stick with the site that is easy on the eyes and easy to use.

If I was to change this website, the only thing I would change is the social media tabs being on the top. I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s because I have been interning and looking at websites and social media all day, but it really bothers me when I cannot automatically connect with their social media and actually search for it on their website. I can’t stress enough, social media is as important as the information provided on the website, that would be the only thing I would change.

Zippy Shoe Company: The Zipfactor

I’ve had mixed experiences with running shoes in the past. I’m a fanatic of long distance runs. The thing is First, these shoes wear and tear the soles of my shoes. Second, because of the soles tearing off after my runs, my knee are getting a bit banged up. I own up to 4 different pairs of running shoes (Wikes, Zeeboks, Runder Armour, and Zumas) and after a couple months, they all end up on my shoe rack or donations. Most of these shoes that I can recollect were shoe’s that actually made my feet ache due to a fit and performarnce issue.

Given my negative experience with the shoes I had before, I gave the new Zipfactor from Zippy Shoe Co. a try, and boy was I amazed.

Specs

The Zipfactor weighs in at 8.3 oz in men’s size 10.5 (my shoe size), and sole stack heights are 24mm heel, 20mm forefoot. I wear my normal size 10.5 in this shoe and length is very good.

The Fit

The Zipfactor fits me far better than the Zeeboks or Runder Armour ever did. I’ve run about 10-30 miles in them, with a long run of a bit over 5 miles, and the comfort has been awesome. This is a bit of a wide shoe and that’s perfect for me because I have a wider foot than other people. The toe/upper part of the shoe does not have a lot of cushioning, but I have not experienced any squeezing, pain or other discomfort like I did with my previous running shoes.

The Sole

The sole is what really makes the Zipfactor sparkle for me. It provides the journey that I had hoped I’d get which is soft and buttery smooth. The Zip-DNA blend midsole is a perfect match for my stride and also takes a lot of compression away from the knees. It’s soft on impact, yet irrepressible enough to deliver some spring-back. I’ve run 9+ miles in the Zipfactor in a single run with no issues, and would have no hesitation in using this as a marathon shoe.

Conclusion

The Zippy Shoe Co. ZipFactor is by far, one of my favorite shoes so far this year, and one that I would consistently grab for longer, slower miles on the road. It’s not a fast shoe, but it isn’t intended to be that. Rather, I’d call this a lightweight training shoe or a half/full marathon racer.
